Safina knocked out by Tamarine at Den Bosch
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - World number one Dinara Safina lost 7-5 7-5 to holder Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand in the Den Bosch Open semi-finals on Friday.
"Today was a tough day for both of us because the wind kept changing direction. It was a difficult match which could have gone either way," Safina told reporters.
The unseeded Tamarine, who also beat the Russian in last year's final, next faces Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium.
Wickmayer advanced with a 7-6 2-6 6-3 win over Italian Francesca Schiavone.
