Citrix Systems, Inc., incorporated on April 17, 1989, is a cloud computing company. The Company designs, develops and markets technology solutions that enable information technology (IT) services. The Enterprise division and the Online Services division constitute its two segments. Its revenues are derived from sales of Enterprise division products, which include its Desktop Solutions, Datacenter and Cloud Solutions, Cloud-based Data Solutions and related technical services and from its Online Services division's Web collaboration, remote access and support services. It markets and licenses its products directly to enterprise customers, over the Web, and through systems integrators (Sis) in addition to indirectly through value-added resellers (VARs), value-added distributors (VADs) and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The Company, through its subsidiary, Sanbolic, minimizes infrastructure and storage complexity for App Delivery and virtual desktop deployments (VDI).
The Company's products and services focus on customers of all sizes - from individuals and professional consumers, or prosumers, who subscribe to its GoToMyPC remote access service, to network engineers who purchase its NetScaler Web application devices or the IT professional who licenses its XenDesktop infrastructure products.
The Company’s Desktop Solutions include XenDesktop, XenApp, App-DNA, VDI-in-a-Box, and XenClient. Citrix XenDesktop is a fully integrated desktop virtualization system. XenDesktop is available in a range of packages designed for several market segments. The Express Edition of XenDesktop is offered as a free download from its Website for the IT professionals. The XenDesktop Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Edition is designed for virtual desktop projects that only require the hosted virtual machine method of desktop delivery. The Enterprise and Platinum Editions of XenDesktop include all of its major virtual desktop delivery models in one integrated package, and also include the capabilities of Citrix XenApp for delivering on-demand applications into virtual or physical desktops. All versions of XenDesktop include Citrix HDX technologies. All editions feature licensing for both Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization infrastructure. The most advanced editions include its FlexCast delivery technologies. Citrix XenApp is a widely-deployed application virtualization solution that allows enterprise applications to be centralized and delivered as an on-demand service. XenApp delivers applications in two ways: hosted by running application business logic on a central server using its HDX technologies to securely transmit the application's user experience to the endpoint device, or streamed by running the application locally. The XenApp server runs on Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition to Windows Server 2003 and several versions of UNIX. During the year ended December 31, 2011, the Company announced Citrix XenApp 6.5 that continued the integration with Microsoft App-V, introduced in XenApp 6, delivering App-V virtualized applications to virtually any user - on virtually any device anywhere. It offers XenApp as a standalone product in different editions. The Platinum Edition includes the most features and adds capabilities for application performance monitoring, secure sockets layers/virtual private network (SSL/VPN), advanced SmartAccess control and single sign-on application security. The capabilities of XenApp are available in XenDesktop Enterprise and Platinum Editions to provide a complete desktop virtualization system. Citrix AppDNA application migration software enables enterprises to discover, automate, model and manage applications for application migration, application virtualization and streamlined application management. Citrix VDI-in-a-Box is a desktop virtualization solution focused at small and medium sized businesses. Citrix XenClient is a bare-metal hypervisor that runs directly on the client device hardware, dividing up the resources of the machine and enabling multiple operating systems to run side by side in complete isolation. XenClient is available as a free download on citrix.com. Citrix Receiver is the client side of XenApp and XenDesktop. Citrix Receiver is available as a free download from citrix.com supporting numerous types of client devices.
