Pakistan PM orders border re-opening amid tense Afghanistan ties

ISLAMABAD/TORKHAM, Afghanistan Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered the two main border crossings to Afghanistan to be re-opened on Monday, after their closure last month following a series of attacks that Islamabad blamed on militants operating from across the frontier.

Bomb attack near Afghan capital kills influential governor

PUL-I-ALAM, Afghanistan A bomb attack on a mosque in Afghanistan killed the governor of a province south of Kabul, a friend of the country's president, on Tuesday as he was making an address on the first day of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, officials said.
