The principal activities of the Company and its subsidiaries, include the provision of local, mobile and international telecommunications services, Internet access services, interactive multimedia and pay-television (TV) services, the sale and rental of telecommunications equipment, and the provision of computer, engineering and other technical services primarily, in Hong Kong, and in mainland China and in the Asia Pacific region; investments in, and development of, systems integration, network engineering, and technology related businesses; and investments in, and development of, infrastructure and properties in Hong Kong, mainland China and elsewhere in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, PCCW Ltd.'s revenues increased 12% to HK$12.77B. Net income decreased less than 1% to HK$654M. Revenues reflect an increase in sales from PCPD segment and higher income from TV & Content segment. Net income was offset by higher cost of sales, increased finance costs, lower interest income and the presence of impairment losses on interests in an associate & a jointly controlled company.
