On October 1, 2008, the Company completed the disposal of its code division multiple access (CDMA) business to China Telecom Corporation Limited (China Telecom). The Company’s wholly owned subsidiary, China United Network Communications Corporation Limited (CUCL) merged with China Netcom (Group) Company Limited (CNC China), a wholly owned subsidiary of China Netcom Group Corporation (Hong Kong) Limited (China Netcom), in January 2009. In addition, in January 2009, China United Network Communications Group Company Limited (Unicom Group), the Company’s parent company, merged with and absorbed China Network Communications Group Corporation (Netcom Group), the parent company of China Netcom.
