Far Eastern International Bank is principally engaged in the provision of personal banking, consumer banking, credit cards, corporate banking and financial market services. The personal banking business provides wealth management and insurance agency services. The consumer banking business includes the provision of housing loans and car loans. As of December 31, 2008, the Company had an issuance of 1,028,000 effective credit cards. Its financial market businesses include the trade of financial derivatives such as currency swap and options, as well as the trade of convertible bonds. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Company obtained 31%, 25%, 17%, 17% and 10% of its total revenue from its consumer banking, credit cards corporate banking, personal banking and financial market businesses, respectively.
BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2009, Far Eastern International Bank's interest income decreased 38% to NT$5.40B. Net interest income after loan loss provision totalled NT$1.86B, up from NT$694.4M. Net income totaled NT$877.9M, vs. a net loss of NT$706.8M. Interest income reflect lower yield from loan business. Net income benefited from higher gain from financial assets fro sale and the presence of foreign exchange gain.
