Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd. is a mining conglomerate in the People’s Republic of China, primarily engaged in the exploration, mining and sale of gold and other non-ferrous metals. The Company produces mainly gold bullion of 99.99% and 99.95% purity under the ZIJIN brand, copper cathodes and zinc bullion. It has six segments. The mine-produced gold segment is engaged in the production of gold bullion. The processed gold segment is involved in the production of gold bullion by refining gold ore. The copper cathodes and the zinc bullion segments are involved in the production of copper cathodes and zinc bullion, respectively. The ore concentrates segment comprises the production of gold concentrates, copper concentrates, zinc concentrates and iron concentrates. The corporate and others segment comprises the production of vitriol, copperplate, silver and iron. In October 2009, the Company acquired a 50% stake in Zijin Copper Co., Ltd.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd.'s revenues increased 14% to RMB9.38B. Net income increased 11% to RMB1.93B. Revenues reflect an increase in Processed gold and higher income from Copper cathodes segments of the group. Net income was partially offset a rise in cost of sales, lower gross profit margins, increased selling & distribution costs and higher other operating expenses.
