Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group Holdings, Inc. is a Japan-based holding company engaged in two business segments through its subsidiaries and associated companies in both domestic and overseas markets. The Non-Life Insurance and Related segment is engaged in non-life insurance and related businesses, as well as asset management business, which include investment and fund advisory, in addition to other related businesses. This segment is also engaged in other general business service activities, including real estate management, computer system operation, computer software development, training, manpower dispatching, nursing care facility operation and senior welfare, among others. The Life Insurance segment provides life insurance agency services. The Company has 93 subsidiaries and 20 associated companies.
BRIEF: For the three months ended 30 June 2009, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group Holdings' revenues increased 1% to Y535.33B. The Company's net income increased 37% to Y32.18B. Higher revenues reflect the presence of Y30.58B reversal of res. for claims & losses. Net income also benefits from lower percentages of cost of sales and SGA expenses, as well as the absence of Y20.41B provision for underwrite reserves.
