ACEA SpA is an Italy-based utility company engaged in the production and supply of water, electricity, public lighting and heating. The Company manages the transmission and distribution of energy in the Rome area. It provides also electricity production from renewable sources. It designs and manages the public lighting system for roads, museums, monuments and archeological sites in Rome and the public lighting in Naples, Foggia and other municipalities. It operates its own district heating installation powered by the Tor di Valle cogeneration power plant. The Company, with its own aqueducts and networks, manages the entire water cycle in the Ambito Territoriale Ottimale, in Rome and Frosinone. In these areas, it collects, purchases, transports and distributes drinking water, and manages the sewerage system and the purification of wastewaters. In addition, it provides laboratory, research and related consultancy services on the environment and control functions within the water cycle.
BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2009, ACEA S.p.A.'s total revenue decreased 5% to EUR2.18B. Net loss from continuing operations totaled EUR5.1M, vs. a profit of EUR113.2M. Total revenue reflects an increase in demand for the Company's products and services in the Generation, Sales and Public Illumination business segments. Net loss from continuing operations reflects an increase in amortization and depreciation charges.
