Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited (AHEL) is an integrated healthcare company, which owns and operates a network of primary, secondary, tertiary hospitals and clinics across India. As of March 31, 2009, the Company directly owned a total of 20 hospitals across India with a capacity of 2,481 beds. In addition, it has a capacity of 1,875 beds through subsidiaries, joint venture and associate hospitals. The Company’s segments include healthcare services, which comprise hospitals, hospital-based pharmacies and consultancy division, and pharmacies segment, which comprise pharmacies. The Company provides project management and operations consulting services to other hospitals. As of March 31, 2009, it operated a network of 873 pharmacies. Its pharmacies offer a range of medicines, surgical, hospital consumables and healthcare products. Most of its pharmacies have nursing stations attached. The nursing stations provide medical services, which include measuring blood pressure and dressing.

BRIEF: For the fiscal year ended 31 March 2009, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited's revenues increased 32% to RS16.35B. Net income increased 33%to RS1.02B. Revenues reflects an increase in income from services. Net income also reflects an increase in gross margins. The Group's principal activities are to provide health care and other related services. It operates in three segments namely, Hospitals, Retail pharmacy & Others.
