Compania Minera Atacocha SAA is a Peru-based mining company engaged in the exploration and exploitation of mine concessions. It operates a treatment plant and a mining camp, which are located in the districts of San Francisco de Asis de Yurusyacan and Yanacancha, province of Pasco. Its activities include the production and sale of lead, zinc and copper concentrates. As of December 31, 2008, the Company held sale contracts with Glencore Internacional AG, Trafigura Beheer BV, Cajamarquilla SA and Doe Run Peru SRL, among others. In addition, the Company is active in the electric power generation and it owns two hydroelectric power plants: Marcopampa and Chaprin. It also owns such subsidiaries as Corporacion Minera San Manuel SA, Atagold SA, Minera Sinaycocha SAC, Empresa Energetica de Chaprin SA, Corporacion Peruana Cocachacra SAC, Calcios del Pacifico Sur SA, Finaminer SA and El Quinual SA. The Company’s majority shareholder is Votorantim Andina Peru SAC, with 69.75% of its interests.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, Compania Minera Atacocha S.A.'s total revenue decreased 77% to $28.5M. Net loss for the period totaled $35.4M, vs. a profit of $7M. Total revenues reflects a decrease in demand for the Company's products and services. Net loss for the period reflects significantly decreased gross margin as well as considerbly higher expense from the financial activities and lower financial income.
