Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd. (BHL), a part of the Bajaj Group, is a sugar and ethanol manufacturing company in India. The Company has 10 sugar plants, which are all located in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. These ten plants have an aggregate sugarcane crushing capacity of 96,000 tons crushed per day (tcd). BHL produces 34.24 million litres of ethanol annually. The Company generates 397 megawatts of power from the bagasse produced in its sugar mills. BRIEF: For the fiscal year ended 30 September 2008, Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd.'s revenues increased 17% to RS21.12B. Net loss totaled RS1.8B vs. an income of RS74.4M. Revenues reflect an increase in the sales of Sugar segment, higher turnover from Distillery segment and an increase in other income. Net loss reflects an increase in consumption of raw materials, higher employees cost and increased loss due to foreign exchange fluctuation.
