Cairn India Limited (Cairn) is an Indian company engaged in the business of surveying, prospecting, importing, exporting and generally dealing in minerals, oils, petroleum, gas and related by-products and other activities. Cairn also holds interests in its subsidiary companies, which have been granted rights to explore and develop oil exploration blocks in the India sub continent. As of March 31, 2009, Cairn had two significant producing assets: at CB/OS-2 in the Cambay Basin, off the Gujarat coast in western India, and Ravva, located in the Krishna-Godavari basin off the Andhra Pradesh coastline in Eastern India. Its gross operated production from these two assets in India during the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009 (fiscal 2008) was 66,146 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd). In CB/OS-2 block, the Lakshmi and Gauri offshore fields are producing oil and gas, while the onshore field, CB-X, is producing only gas. Average gross from the Ravva field for fiscal 2008 was 52,539 boepd.
