Central Bank of India (the Bank) is a public sector bank based in India. As of March 31, 2009, the Bank operated 3,518 branches, 34 satellite offices and 219 extension counters. Out of these 1,376 are rural branches, 884 semi-urban branches, 675 urban branches and 583 metro branches. Its business segments are Treasury Operations, Corporate/Wholesale Banking, Retail Banking and Other Banking business. The various types of loans offered by the Bank include education loan, housing loan, retail and agricultural loans. As of March 31, 2009, its deposits totaled Rs. 131,272 crore. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009, the Bank issued 221,558 Kisan Credit Cards with sanctioned limit of Rs.1,134 crore. It has launched Internet banking and short message service (SMS) banking facilities. It has formed 10,968 self-help groups, out of which 7,824 groups have been credit-linked. Its subsidiaries include Cent Bank Home Finance Ltd. and Cent Bank Financial & Custodial Services Ltd.
