Crucell N.V. (Crucell) is a biopharmaceutical company. The Company is focused on developing, producing and marketing products that combat infectious diseases. It develops products that address unmet medical needs, particularly in the field of infectious diseases. The product portfolio of the Company is focused on three distinct areas, which includes pediatric, travel and endemic, and respiratory. The products developed by the Company include Quinvaxem, Epaxal Junior, Hepavax-Gene, MoRu-Viraten, Epaxal, Vivotif, Dukoral and InflexalV. The technologies developed by the Company include PER.C6, AdVac, MAbstract, STAR and Virosome. Its product development programs comprise vaccines against yellow fever, influenza, tuberculosis, Ebola and Marburg, malaria, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), human monoclonal antibodies against rabies and human monoclonal antibodies against a range of influenza. BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2009, Crucell N.V.'s total revenue increased 31% to EUR232.8M. Net profit for the period totaled EUR8.4M, vs. a loss of EUR3.1M. Total revenue reflects the increased product sales as well as an increase in service income. Net profit for the period reflects decreased research and development expenses as well as an increase in other income and government grants.
