It operates in four business areas: Endesa Generation, comprising energy generation and mining activities in Spain; Endesa Network, engaged in the distribution of electricity through ENDESA Distribucion Electrica SL and ENDESA Operaciones y Servicios Comerciales SL; Endesa Energy, involved in the supply of energy on a deregulated market, and Endesa Services, offering real estate, telecommunications and mining support services. The Company is a parent of Grupo Endesa, a group which comprises a number of entities with operations in Latin America and Europe, such as Endesa Energia SA, Endesa Generacion SA, and Internacional Endesa BV, among others. The Company’s majority shareholder is ENEL SPA, with 67.1% of its interests.

BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2009, Endesa SA's total revenue increased 6% to EUR18.49B. Net income from continuing operations increased 58% to EUR3.05B. Total revenue reflects a slight increase in demand for the Company's products and services in the Other geographic segments. Net income from continuing operations benefited from significant gains on both sale of fixed assets and other investments.
