Essar Shipping Ports & Logistics Limited., formerly Essar Shipping Ltd., is engaged in fleet operations and chartering. The Company’s fleet operations are managed on a worldwide basis from India. The Company, through its subsidiary, Essar Logistics Limited (ELL), provides transshipment, lighterage and trucking services to steel mills and oil refineries. As of March 31, 2009, ELL was carrying out logistics handling for large project cargoes and is making investments in acquiring assets for project cargo movement. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009, ELL handled 18.5 million tons of cargo. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009, the Company added two Supramax Dry Bulk Carriers in its fleet while having sold one. Essar Sisco Ship Management Company Limited, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company and India Shipping had been amalgamated with the Company with effect from April 1, 2008.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 September 2009, Essar Ports& Logistics Ltd's revenues increased 2% to RS13.71B. Net income totaled RS84M vs. a loss of RS70.3M. Revenues reflect increased income from port & terminal services, the presence of income from oilfield services and higher surface transport services. Net income reflects a decrease in direct voyage cost & logistics services, lower dry docking and higher gross margin.
