The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd. is engaged in the shipping business. The Company took delivery of two double hull Long range one product tankers Jag Aabha in November 2008, and Jag Aanchal in December 2008. Subsequently double hull tanker Jag Amisha was delivered to the Company in April 2009. It sold two vessels: Product tanker Jag Prayog in June 2008, and Gas carrier Jag Vayu in February 2009. In April 2008, the Company also delivered product tankers Jag Praja and Jag Arpan. Subsequently the Company also delivered product tanker Jag Payal in May 2009. The tanker fleet of the Company stood at 31 tankers aggregating 2.38 million dead weight tons, with an average age of 9.9 years as of March 31, 2009.
BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 September 2009, Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited's income decreased 30% to RS16.88B. Net income decreased 1% to RS370.3B. Revenues reflect an decrease in income from Shipping segment. Net income was partially offset by reflect lower repairs & maintenance charges - Fleet& Rigs and a decrease in loss on foreign currency exchange and higher gross operating margins.
