Hindustan Construction Company Limited (HCC) is an India-based infrastructure company. The Company operates in four segments: Engineering & Construction, Real Estate, Comprehensive Urban Development and Management, and Others. The Company executes projects across segments, such as transportation, power, marine projects, oil and gas pipeline constructions, irrigation and water supply, utilities and urban infrastructure. The Company is engaged in the construction of power projects namely hydro, nuclear and thermal. HCC is constructing the 4 x 11 megawatts Chutak Hydroelectric Power Project at Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir. It is engaged in the transport sector with its involvement in highway development projects, bridges, tunnels and metros. The Company is involved in connecting Bafliaz (Poonch) to Shopian (near Srinagar) through Pir Panjal Pass by an 83 kilometer two lane asphalt road. Its subsidiaries include HCC Infrastructure Limited, HCC Real Estate Limited and Lavasa Corporation Ltd.
BRIEF: For the fiscal year ended 31 March 2009, Hindustan Construction Company Limited's revenues increased 18% to RS35.72B. Net income decreased 28% to RS629.9M. Revenues reflect an increase in income from Engineering & Construction segment and the presence of income from Urban development management segment. Net income was offset by increased consumption of materials, a rise in depreciation expenses and higher employee cost.
