Infineon Technologies AG (Infineon) is a semiconductor company. The Company designs, develops, manufactures and markets a range of semiconductors and complete systems solutions used in a variety of microelectronic applications, including computer systems, telecommunications systems, consumer goods, automotive products, industrial automation and control systems, and chip card applications. Its products include standard commodity components, full-custom devices, semi-custom devices and application-specific components for memory, analog, digital and mixed-signal applications. The Company has operations, investments and customers located in Europe, Asia and North America. Infineon's segments include Automotive, Industrial and Multimarket, Chip Card and Security and Wireless Solutions. Infineon’s memory products business is conducted through its subsidiary, Qimonda AG (Qimonda). In November 2009, the Company announced the sale of its wireline business to Lantiq.
BRIEF: For the fiscal year ended 30 September 2009, Infineon Technologies AG's revenue decreased 22% to EUR3.03B. Net loss from continuing operations totaled EUR225M, vs. a profit of EUR608M. Revenue reflects a decrease in demand for the Company's products and services in all business and geographic segments. Net loss from continuing operations reflects a decreased operating margin due to lower other operating income.
