JBS SA is a Brazil-based company involved in the food processing sector. It is engaged in the manufacture and export of meat products. Its product line includes corned beef, roast beef with gravy, stewed steak, sausages, canned vegetables and beef cuts, among others. The Company’s brand portfolio includes Friboi, Sola, Swift, Maturatta, Exeter and Anglo, among others. The Company has a total of 64 industrial units worldwide, including in Brazil, in the states of Sao Paulo, Goias, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondonia, Minas Gerais, Acre, Rio de Janeiro and Parana. JBS SA also has industrial units in Argentina, Italy, the United States and Australia. In 2008, the Company acquired Inalca SpA, National Beef Packing Company LLC, Smithfield Beef Group Inc, Tasman Group Services Pty Ltd and Industry Park Pty Ltd.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, JBS SA's total revenue increased 43% to R$18.52B. Net loss for the period decreased 60% to R$149.9M. Total revenue reflects favorable market conditions as well as an increase in demand for the Company's products and services. Lower net loss for the period reflects significantly higher financial and other operating income, lack of other operating expenses as well as improved operating margin.
