Lottomatica Group SpA, formerly Lottomatica SpA, is a gaming operator and, through its subsidiary GTECH Corporation, is a provider of lottery and gaming technology solutions worldwide. Lottomatica Group SpA has a distribution network in Italy, with approximately 226,700 terminals in about 97,200 points of sale (including approximately 30,000 points of sale where Lottomatica Group SpA provides processing services for third parties), consisting of tobacconists, bars, petrol stations, newspaper stands and motorway restaurants. GTECH designs, sells and operates a suite of lottery-enabled point-of-sale terminals that are electronically linked with a centralized transaction processing system that reconciles lottery funds between the retailer, where a transaction is enabled, and the lottery authority. On August 29, 2008, Lottomatica Group SpA acquired Toto Carovigno SpA. On December 5, 2008, Lottomatica Group SpA acquired Royal Gold Srl.
BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2009, Lottomatica S.p.A.'s total revenue increased 14% to EUR1.59B. Net income for the period increased 1% to EUR107.2M. Total revenue reflects an increase in demand for the Company's products and services. Net income for the period was partially offset by lower operating margins due to increased personnel expenses and higher amortization and depreciation charges.
