Lundin Mining Corporation (Lundin Mining) is a diversified base metals mining company with operations in Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Ireland, producing copper, nickel, lead and zinc. Lundin Mining holds a development project pipeline, which includes the Tenke Fungurume copper/cobalt project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and holds an exploration portfolio and interests in international mining and exploration ventures. The Company’s principal operating mines include the Neves-Corvo copper/zinc mine, located near Castro Verde, Portugal; the Zinkgruvan zinc/lead/silver mine, located approximately 200 kilometers southwest of Stockholm, Sweden; the Aguablanca nickel/copper mine in Spain; the Galmoy zinc/lead mine near Kilkenny, Ireland, and a 24.75% interest in the Tenke Fungurume copper/cobalt project under development in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). On February 5, 2009, the Company completed the sale of its wholly owned subsidiary, Pirites Alentejanas SA.
BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, Lundin Mining Corporation's revenues decreased 47% to $318.2M. Net income from continuing operations decreased 84% to $29.3M. Revenues reflect lower metal prices & pricing adjustments from prior period sales and lower income from Neves Corva segment. Net income also reflects a decrease in gross margin, increased interest & bank charges and the presence of loss on derivative contracts vs. a gain.
