Mediobanca Group is an Italy-based financial holding company. Through its subsidiaries, the Company offers a variety of banking services. It operates in three principal sectors of activity. Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) provides corporate lending, capital market, advisory and other financial services for corporate clients. The Principal Investing area includes minority and majority stakes in both listed and unlisted, as well as in medium and large size companies. In the Retail and Private Banking area, the Company offers consumer credit and personal loans through Compass SpA and Linea SpA, retail banking and mortgage services through CheBanca! SpA, and private banking, both onshore (through Banca Esperia) and offshore (through Compagnie Monegasque de Banque). Mediobanca Group is comprised of a number of subsidiaries, including Mediobanca International (Luxemburg), MB Securities USA, Consortium, Prominvestment, Palladio Leasing and Teleleasing, among others.

BRIEF: For the three months ended 30 September 2009, Mediobanca Group's interest income decreased 13% to EUR719.4M. Net interest income after loan loss provision decreased 7% to EUR120M. Net income decreased 35% to EUR200.6M. Interest income reflects an increase in the volume of loans issued. Net income suffered from higher personnel and administrative expenses as well as higher amortization and depreciation expense.
