Compania Minera Milpo SAA is a Peru-based mining company engaged in the exploration and exploitation of mining claims, as well as in the extraction, concentration and sale of zinc, copper, lead, silver and gold. It operates four mining units: the El Porvenir mine, located in Pasco; the Ivan mine and refinery, located in Antofagasta; the Chapi mine, located in Moquegua, and the Cerro Lindo mine, located in Ica. It is also involved in two additional mining projects: Proyecto Pukaqaqa, focusing on the exploration and exploitation of copper in the department of Huancavelica, and Proyecto Hilarion, a poly-metallic extraction project established in the department of Ancash. During 2008, it merged by absorption with its subsidiaries Gestion Minera SA and Milpo Finance and Investments Inc Ltda. It owns such subsidiaries as Minera Pampa de Cobre SA, Minera El Muki SA, Asociacion Grupo Milpo and Votorantin Andina Peru SAC. Through Minera Rayrock Antofagasta, it has operations in Chile.
BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, Compania Minera Milpo S.A.A.'s total revenues decreased 24% to $142.4M. Net income decreased 94% to $3.1M. Total revenue reflects lower earnings from the sale of lead, zinc and copper due to a decrease in the demand for Company's products. Net income for the period suffered from an increase in selling and administrative expenses as well as financial expenses.
