The Madras Aluminium Company Limited (MALCO) is an India-based company. The Company is engaged in the business of producing aluminium products. The operations of the Company also include mining, refining, smelting and power generation. The products manufactured by the Company includes ingots, wire rods, busbars and feral. MALCO manufactures electrical conductor (E.C.) Grade and alloy grade ingots, with each E.C. ingot and alloy ingot weighing approximately 20 kilograms and six kilograms. The Company manufactures E.C. grade wire rod produced by casting and rolling. MALCO has horizontal casting facility and manufactures busbars with a range of cross section, as well as length. The Busbar is used for electrical applications in energy intensive industries as current carrying media. The Company is a part of Vedanta Resources Plc.
BRIEF: For the fiscal year ended 31 March 2009, Madras Aluminum Co., Ltd.'s revenues increased 3% to RS5.24B. Net income decreased 30% to RS458.6M. Revenues reflects an increase in income from operations. Net income was offset by an increase in employee costs, higher depreciation expense, increased cost of sales, increased interest expenditure, higher traveling expenses and an increase in other selling expenses.
