Modern Times Group AB (MTG) is a Sweden-based entertainment broadcasting company. It operates through four business areas. Viasat Broadcasting is a television operator in Scandinavia and the Baltics, which also operates free television channels in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Ghana; pay television channels in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and the United States, as well as a satellite premium pay television platform in Ukraine. MTG is also the major shareholder in Russia’s television broadcaster, CTC Media. Radio owns commercial radio broadcasting networks in Sweden and Norway, and holds an equity stake in a commercial radio broadcasting network in Finland, as well as in radio stations and networks in the Baltic countries. Online includes such entertainment retailers as CDON.COM, Gymgrossisten.com, Bodystore.com, Nelly.se, Linus-Lotta.com, Bet24.com, and others. Modern Studios comprises companies that produce and license a range of content types.

BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2009, Modern Times Group AB's net sales increased 8% to SEK10.12B. Net profit decreased 65% to SEK824M. Net sales reflects the company's ownership and distribution which generates an almost equal mix of subscription and advertising revenues despite the deterioration of the market environment. Net profit was offset by decreased both gross and operating margins due to negative result from net financial items.
