State Bank of Travancore (SBT) is an associate of the State Bank of India and a member of the State Bank Group. The Company operates in four segments: corporate/wholesale banking, retail banking, treasury and other banking operations. As of March 31 2009, the Bank had a network of 726 branches and 21 extension counters, including 10 service branches, one international service branch, five commercial network branches, five specialized small and medium enterprise (SME) branches, 10 specialized personal segment branches and 10 specialized agricultural branches. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009, 16 branches had been opened. The services offered by SBT include Internet banking, e-payments, utility bill payments, fee payments and e-commerce. The Bank participates in meeting need-based requirements of small-scale industry, agriculture and small business. The Bank caters to the needs of farmers through its rural and semi-urban branches.
BRIEF: For the three months ended 30 June 2009, State Bank of Travancore's interest income increased 16% to RS10.73B. Net interest income after loan loss provision totaled RS3.50B, up from RS1.56B. Net income totaled RS1.80B, up from RS411.2M. Net interest income reflects increased income from investment, higher interest/discount on advance/bills and an increase in other interest earned. Net income also reflects an operating margin.
