Shougang Hierro Peru SAA is a Peru-based company primarily involved in the mining industry. The Company specializes in iron ore mining and it is active in the exploration, exploitation and beneficiation of iron ores and other minerals, transformation of minerals into products, as well as scientific and technological research. Shougang Hierro Peru SAA’s product portfolio includes blast furnace pellets, direct reduction pellets, high grade pellet feed, high grade sinter feed, pellets chips and calibrated sinter feed, among others. The Company’s Mine and Beneficiation Plants are located in a desert area on the coast of Peru. It also operates San Nicolas port, located in San Juan Bay, through which different products are shipped to Asia, Europe, North America, among others. The Company belongs to the Shougang Group, which is a China-based conglomerate active in the iron and steel industries. As of December 31, 2008, Shougang Corporation holds a 98.52% stake in the Company.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, Shougang Hierro Peru SA's total revenue decreased 29% to PEN427.8M. Net income decreased 60% to PEN77.1M. Total revenue reflects depressed performance across the Company's activities as well as unfavorable market conditions. Net income for the period suffered from decreased gross margins as well as both higher other expenses and administration expenses and slightly decreased financial income.
