Sempra Energy is an energy services holding company. The Company, through its business units, provides electric, natural gas and other energy products and services. Its operations are organized into Sempra Utilities and Sempra Global. The Sempra Utilities includes San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E) and Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas). Sempra Commodities, Sempra Generation, Sempra Pipelines & Storage, and an additional business unit, Sempra LNG (liquefied natural gas) are subsidiaries of Sempra Global. Sempra Global consists of businesses engaged in providing energy products and services. SDG&E, Pacific Enterprises (PE) and SoCalGas are subsidiaries of Sempra Energy. In October 2008, Sempra Energy acquired EnergySouth, Inc. In October 2009, Sempra Generation, a subsidiary of Sempra Energy, acquired Auwahi Wind Energy LLC from Shell WindEnergy Inc.
