Straits Resources Limited (Straits) is a diversified resources company. During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2009 (fiscal 2009), Straits was engaged in the production and sale of coal, copper and gold; the exploration for copper, coal and gold, and metal distribution. Its segments include base metals, precious metals and metals distribution. Straits controls and operates the Tritton copper mine in New South Wales, the Mt Muro gold mine in Indonesia, and the Whim Creek copper mine in Western Australia. Straits also own GfE-MIR GmbH, a specialty metals (noble alloys) European-based distribution business, and Magontec, a producer of magnesium alloys with plants in Germany and China. During fiscal 2009, Straits produced a total 34,200 tons of copper. Mt Muro sold 48,367ounces of gold and 297,558 ounces of silver in fiscal 2009. On March 23, 2009, Straits sold a 60% interest in Straits Bulk & Industrial Pty Ltd to a wholly owned subsidiary of PTT Public Company Limited (PTT).
