The Toronto-Dominion Bank (the Bank) is a Canadian bank. The Bank and its subsidiaries are collectively known as TD Bank Financial Group (TDBFG). The Bank offers retail and commercial banking, wealth management and wholesale banking products and services. The Bank’s operations and activities are organized into four operating groups: Canadian Personal and Commercial Banking, including TD Canada Trust and TD Insurance; Wealth Management, including TD Waterhouse and an investment in TD Ameritrade; U.S. Personal and Commercial Banking through TD Banknorth and TD Bank; and Wholesale Banking, including TD Securities. On March 31, 2008, the Bank acquired 100% of Commerce Bancorp, Inc. (Commerce).
BRIEF: For the nine months ended 31 July 2009, The Toronto-Dominion Bank's interest income rose 1% to C$14.62B. Net interest income after LLP rose 27% to C$6.75B. Net income applic. to Common fell 24% to C$2.12B. Net interest income reflects increased interest income on securities and lower interest expense on deposits and decreased other liabilities. Net income was offset by higher salaries & employee benefits.
