TeliaSonera AB is a Sweden-based provider of telecommunications services, mainly in the Nordic and Baltic countries. It is also operational in Spain, Russia, Turkey and Eurasia. The Company is organized into three principal business areas: the Mobility Services area, which provides wireless communication solutions; the Broadband Services area that comprises broadband solutions for home and business, and the Eurasia area, which comprises TeliaSonera’s shareholding activities in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Turkey, Nepal, Cambodia, Ukraine, Belarus and Afghanistan under such brands as K’Cell, Mero Mobile, Star-Cell, Azercell, Somoncom, Ucell, Coscom, Indigo, Geocell, Moldcell, MegaFon, Turkcell and Life. BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2009, TeliaSonera AB's net sales increased 8% to SEK81.75B. Net income for the period increased 4% to SEK13.95B. Net sales reflects a the results of the acquisitions completed and positive exchange rate effects. Net income for the period was partially offset by increased selling-, administration- and research charges and higher expenses from net financial items.
