Union Bank of India (the Bank) is an India-based commercial bank. The Bank offers a range of services, including personal banking, non-resident Indian (NRI) banking, corporate banking and Internet banking. The Company operates in four segments: Treasury Operations, Retail Banking Operations, Corporate/Wholesale Banking and Other Banking Operations. The Bank offers number of banking services, such as account information, funds transfer, air and railway ticket booking, bill payments and tax payments, through its Internet banking channel for retail, as well as corporate customers. The Bank also collects deposits under senior citizens' savings scheme and public provident fund scheme through its 536 authorised branches. The Investment portfolio of the Bank is classified into three categories: held to maturity (HTM), available for sale (AFS) and held for trading (HFT). The total investment portfolio of the Bank stood at Rupees 43,194 crore as on March 31, 2009.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 September 2009, Union Bank of India's interest income increased 19% to RS63.81B. Net interest income after loan loss provision increased 6% to RS13.40B. Net income increased 61% to RS9.47B. Net interest income reflects increased interest on advance and higher investment income, a rise in interest expended. Net income also reflects an increase in other income. The company is into banking business.
