Uranium One, Inc. (Uranium One) is a Canada-based company engaged in the mining and production of uranium, and in the acquisition, exploration and development of properties for the production of uranium, in Kazakhstan, South Africa, United States, Australia and Canada. Uranium One owns, through the Betpak Dala Joint Venture, a 70% interest in both the producing Akdala Mine and the South Inkai Project. The Kharasan Project in Kazakhstan, in which it owns a 30% interest, is being developed by the Kyzylkum Joint Venture. In the United States, the Company owns projects in the Powder River and Great Divide Basins in Wyoming. The Company owns a 51% interest in the Honeymoon Project in Australia. On October 22, 2008, the Company suspended development of its Dominion Project in South Africa.
BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, Uranium One Inc.'s revenues decreased 14% to $61.5M. Net loss from continuing ops. totaled $202.4M, up from $78.5M. Revenues reflect a decrease in the sales of Kazakhstan segment. Higher loss reflects an increase in impairment of mineral interest, plant & equipment expenses, the presence of care & maintenance expenses, higher interest paid and the presence of interest & costs incurred on uranium.
