Zurich Financial Services AG (Zurich) is a Switzerland-based insurance-based financial services provider with operations in North America and Europe, as well as in Asia Pacific, Latin America and other markets. The Company also distributes non-insurance products, such as mutual funds, mortgages and other financial services products, from selected third-party providers. Zurich Financial Services is the holding company of the Company. Zurich operates in three segments: General Insurance, Global Life, and Farmers Management Services. On November 20, 2008, the Company completed the acquisition of the remaining 34% of Zurich Retail Insurance Company Ltd., Russia. On November 28, 2008, it acquired 87.35% of Companhia de Seguros Minas Brasil, a general insurer, and 100% of Minas Brasil Seguradora Vida e Previdencia S.A., a life insurer. During the year ended December 31, 2008, it sold its interest in Financial Lifestyle Solutions Pty Ltd.
