Nov 23 - The South African Mint Company manually presses a FIFA 2010 World Cup coin at the renovated Soccer City stadium that will host the first and final matches of the tournament.
The pure gold and silver 2010 celebratory coins series features three stadiums - the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban, the Soccer City stadium in Soweto and the Greenpoint stadium in Cape Town.
The SA Mint Company said the mintage of coins is an important exercise of history preservation and that 2010 coins, in particular, also serve the purpose of marketing the South African World Cup, which kicks-off in June next year.
Only 300 mintages of the Soccer City coin will be made.
