Madonna in Rio
Nov 13 - Madonna uses her star power to help children in Rio de Janeiro's slums.
Accompanied by her boyfriend, model Jesus Luz, the 51-year-old pop icon met children who benefit from social projects financed by the NGO Spirituality for Kids, a Kabbalah children's program.
Rio de Janeiro has about 1,000 slums, many of them controlled by violent drug gangs, or other armed groups.
Local newspapers report the star's visit is hoped to raise $10 million for the NGO, created by Rabbi Michael Berg, director of the Kabbalah Center and Madonna's close friend.
