Obama kicks off Asia tour in Japan

Nov 14 - U.S President Barack Obama pledged pragmatic cooperation with China, saying in a major speech in Tokyo, Japan on Saturday that Washington did not seek to contain China.

Obama also urged North Korea to return to stalled multilateral talks on its nuclear program.

Tokyo is the first stop in Obama's nine-day Asian tour, which also takes him to Singapore for an Asia-Pacific economic summit, to China for talks likely to feature climate change and trade imbalances, and to South Korea, where North Korea's nuclear ambitions will be in focus.
