Rice price hits record levels

Apr. 16 - U.S. rice prices have risen two percent to reach an all-time high.

It has led to Southeast Asian countries to impose control over rice exports to protect their own supplies.

Indonesia, the region's largest rice consumer, has announced restrictions on its rice exports as it fights to combat inflation.

Importers like the Philippines, have called for urgent talks on the price of rice.
