Follow these steps to receive free* alerts from Reuters on your mobile device.

Open your text (SMS) messaging
program and select the option to send a new message. Enter

in the 'To:' field, enter a keyword (START
TOP, or START
BRE) into the message field and then send the message.
You'll receive a message on your phone within a few minutes. This message will appear in your message inbox.

Step 2
Open the message.
Reply to it with the appropriate
keyword (YTOP,
or YBRE).
You will then get a second message confirming you have successfully signed up for the alert service.
