It doesn't get much better than this... politically speaking, Osama bin Laden's death is huge boost to U.S. President Barack Obama's popularity. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SAYING: "last night, as americans learned that the united states had carried out an operation that resulted in the capture and death of Osama bin laden, ah, we... " Obama could barely get his words out at this previously planned congressional dinner at the White House... before guests drowned him out with applause. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SAYING: "We were reminded again that there's a pride in what this nation stands for, and what we can achieve that runs deeper than party, deeper than politics." But Obama's almost naive 'why can't we all get a long' philosophy on Capital Hill has often been criticised as a weakness. Especially in the past few weeks when he's been charged with indecisiveness in reacting to uprisings in the middle east and north africa. Still, there's no denying this latest display of moxy in hunting down America's most wanted fugitive will go far in reassuring the public and critics of his national security prowess.... if only for a little while. The 2012 election is still more than one year away, after all. Julie Noce, Reuters
