PLEASE NOTE: EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL Hungarian Elvis Presley imitator band, 'Ed Philips and the Memphis Patrol' rehearsing for "Elvis Day" - a concert they plan to inaugurate on the anniversary of the King's death on August 16. Until recently, the band didn't have an appropriate venue for their gig. But the Budapest City Council has named a small park along the Danube after Presley, almost 34 years after the rock 'n roll star's death. The honour is in recognition of Elvis' sympathy towards Hungary's anti-Soviet uprising in 1956. When he appeared on the Ed Sullivan show in 1957, Presley appealed via Sullivan, for donations to be sent to Hungary's protesters. Mayor of Budapest, Istvan Tarlos commented on the City Council's decision. SOUNDBITE: Mayor of Budapest, Istvan Tarlos, saying (Hungarian): "That such a young man who had no business in it [the 1956 uprising] and kept himself far from politics but at the same time his influence over the people was extraordinary, felt it worthwhile within his scope to help the Hungarian revolution and freedom fight - all this is worth the thought and attention to name a little public place after him." Although the park is a welcome addition, not all Budapest residents agree with the choice of location. SOUNDBITE: Resident Viktoria Matyus, saying (Hungarian): "This park isn't quite suitable for him I think. It should have been another one with more life, where there is more vitality and resemblance to the rock-n-roll style. This one is too quiet I think, it should have been named after a writer or a poet." But with the help of bands like this one, "The Pelvis" will live on in Hungary. Tara Cleary, Reuters.
