May 30 - South African president Jacob Zuma meets with Gaddafi, marking the first time the Libyan leader has been seen in public since May 11. Deborah Gembara reports.

South African President Jacob Zuma arrives in Tripoli, the latest attempt to resolve the conflict in Libya. He walks the red carpet as children chant. The meeting between Zuma and Muammar Gaddafi marks the first time the embattled Libyan leader has been seen in public since May 11. Afterwards Zuma said he's open to the African Union's plan to end the conflict. SOUNDBITE: SouthAfrican President Jacob Zuma saying (English with Arabic translation): " He ready to implement the decision of the AU. There must be a ceasefire, which is unconditional. Bombing by NATO must also come to an end. That we must have a ceasefire that affects everyone. But also he made the point to llet Libyan people be given the chance to talk among themselves to solve their problems. And therefore he's ready to implement the roadmap of the AU. Those are the highlights of our discussions." This is Zuma's second visit to the region since the fighting started. Deborah Gembara, Reuters
