Dramatic scenes at the international tribunal in the Hague where former Bosnian army chief Rakko Mladic is being tried for suspected war crimes. A defiant Mladic, who saluted the courtroom, is asked to remove his hat by presiding Judge Alphonse Orie - before being thrown out. Mladic interrupted Judge Orie repeatedly, and refused to listen to the charges against him. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PRESIDING JUDGE ALPHONS ORIE SAYING: "M. Mladic, would you not interrupt me." I have to interrupt you because I don't have a lawyer, Mladic responds. The former warlord is unhappy with his court-appointed lawyer and is requesting his own attorneys. That decision is still being processed by the Court. Shouting, 'You are no court… you are not allowing me to breathe', Mladic is finally escorted from the courtroom. Judge Orie entered a plea of not guilty for Mladic as stipulated by law. The outburst was greeted with sadness by the Mothers of Srebenica, a group of victims and relatives of victims who died during a massacre there. SOUNDBITE) (Bosnian) CHAIRWOMAN OF MOTHERS OF SREBRENICA, MUNIRA SUBASIC, SAYING: "It is very sad that he asked for defence, that he said he has not enough air to breathe... In 1995 when he killed thousands of our children, he didn't ask us, the mothers, for our permission even though I asked him personally to spare my son because he had already killed 22 members of my family." Mladic, who has called the charges against him 'monstrous', is accused of spearheading a bloody campaign to seize territory for Serbs as the former Yugoslavia broke up. The five years of war that ensued left at least 130,000 people dead. Sunita Rappai, Reuters
