Egyptian police clash with demonstrators blocking a main road in Alexandria. It was a rare incidence of violence in the two weeks of largely peaceful protests in the city as well as Cairo and Suez. They have been demonstrating against a court's decision to free 10 policemen on bail, accused of killing protesters during the uprising earlier this year. Police fired shots into the air, demonstrators responded by throwing stones. Witnesses said 10 people were injured. Egypt's interim rulers have promised to speed up trials and political reforms. But this has not appeased the thousands that protested across the country demanding the policemens' trial be held soon. Marie-Claire Fennessy, Reuters
