Almost six months after being ousted from power, former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak is set to go on trial. Mubarak is charged with conspiring to kill peaceful protesters during a democratic uprising earlier this year that ended his 30-year presidency. A senior judicial official says his trial will begin Wednesday in Cairo and be televised live. Mubarak has spent the last several months in the resort town of Sharm El Sheikh, where his doctors say he is gravely ill. A source close to the former president says his lawyer will tell the court he is too ill to attend the Wednesday session in person. Egypt's interim military government has come under increasing public pressure to try Mubarak - and several other former leaders - for the deaths of hundreds of protesters in January and February.
