That's why with the support of my family and an unwavering belief in the goodness of America, I declare to you today as a candidate for president of the United States." Raised on a west Texas farm, the staunch conservative is a critic of federal power, an opponent of abortion rights and gay marriage and has made his Christian faith part of his public image. A three-term governor, Perry touts a pro-business record of job growth in Texas. (SOUNDBITE) (English) TEXAS GOVERNOR RICK PERRY SAYING: "You know, page one of any economic plan to get America working is to give a pink slip to the current residents in the White House."
