Amateur video out of Syria shows a funeral march in Homs for three men allegedly killed by security forces as the Arab League suspended Syria Saturday and called on its army to stop killing civilians. More footage that could not be independently verified by Reuters shows demonstrators on the streets calling for an end of President Bashar al Assad's government. The United Nations says around 3,500 people have been killed since the uprising began some seven months ago. More demonstrations in Damascus. The unrest prompted the Arab League to impose economic and political sanctions on Syria's government. It has also appealed to member states to withdraw their ambassadors. Assad has pressed ahead with the crackdown despite an Arab peace plan brokered November 2. Diplomats say some Arab leaders have been reluctant to turn against one of their peers given the message it might send to their own restive populations. The suspension of Syria's membership from the regional body will take effect November 16. Deborah Lutterbeck, Reuters
