Amateur video out of Syria shows demonstrators under fire in Hama. The video which could not be independently verified by Reuters comes amid reports that government security forces opened fire on people denouncing the regime during a government-organised rally killing eight people. On Saturday the Arab League suspended Syria and called on the government to stop killing civilians. Syria now wants to convene a meeting before the decision becomes final on November 16. The United Nations says 3,500 people have been killed since the uprising began in March. Syria blames the unrest on "terrorists" and foreign-backed Islamist militants. It says 1,100 soldiers and police have been killed. And yet the violence has not stopped the call for change as demonstrations continue calling for the end of President Bashar Al Assad's regime. A different view from State Television in Syria. State television said millions of Syrians assembled in public arenas across the country to denounce the Arab League decision. Syria has banned most international media making it difficult to verify accounts of activists or the government. Deborah Lutterbeck, Reuters
